From Red Deer, head north — the drive takes approximately 3-4 hours. GPS coordinates: 51.4°N, 115.5°W. Roads are paved all the way to the access point, making it accessible year-round. Cell service is generally available until the last 15 minutes of the drive.

Stationnement et accès

Public boat launch with paved ramp and trailer parking for 20+ vehicles. Day-use parking fee of $5-10 applies during peak season (May-September). Multiple shore fishing spots are accessible from the parking area. Arrive early on weekends during peak season — the lot fills up by 7 AM.

Spring (May-June): Post-ice-out is prime time for Lake Trout. Water temperatures are ideal and fish are actively feeding after the long winter.
Summer (July-August): Switch to early morning and late evening bites. Deep water trolling produces best results.
Fall (September-October): Arguably the best season — cooler water triggers aggressive feeding. Fewer crowds and excellent catch rates.
Winter: Ice fishing is productive from January through March. Check ice conditions with local outfitters.

Maximum depth: 143m. The lake bottom features a mix of gravel beds, submerged timber, and weed beds that provide excellent habitat structure. The surrounding landscape is Rocky Mountain foothills with dense tree cover right to the shoreline. Water clarity is excellent — 3-5 metres visibility in summer. Watch for submerged rocks near the northern shore.

A valid Alberta fishing licence is required for all anglers 16 and older. Licences can be purchased online through the provincial government website or at local tackle shops. Conservation licence holders have reduced catch limits.
