Fundy Footpath is an epic multi-day traverse in New Brunswick, offering bay of fundy, coastal cliffs, tidal wonder across 50 km of trail. With 1,500m of elevation gain, this demands solid fitness and preparation.
The trail winds through Appalachian uplands, Bay of Fundy coast, river valleys, passing through diverse forest ecosystems and scenic viewpoints. On clear days, the panoramic views extend for hundreds of kilometres. Fundy Footpath regularly appears on lists of Canada's best hikes, and for good reason — it's the kind of trail that fundamentally changes how you see this country.

Trailhead is approximately 1.5-2 hours from Saint John. GPS: 45.3°N, 65.0°W. Last 10 km is gravel — all vehicles can manage in dry conditions. For point-to-point hikes, arrange a shuttle or second vehicle at the other trailhead. Public transit/shuttle runs to the trailhead during peak season.
Stationnement et accès
Gravel lot at the trailhead — space for about 15 vehicles. If the lot is full, you may need to park up to 1 km back on the road. Free parking at the trailhead. No facilities at the trailhead — use the restroom before you arrive. Don't leave valuables in your vehicle.

Season: June - September. June: Spring freshness, waterfalls at peak flow, and long daylight hours. July-August: Prime hiking season. Snow may linger on alpine passes into early July — check conditions. September-October: Fall colours are breathtaking, especially in the lower elevations. Fewer crowds and clearer air in September.

Distance: 50 km. Elevation gain: 1,500m. Difficulty: Advanced. The trail follows a well-marked path through Appalachian uplands. Rocky and rooty sections require sturdy footwear — trail runners are fine for experienced hikers, but boots recommended for most. River crossings may require fording in early season. Scrambling sections near the summit — hands may be needed.

Park entry fee or annual pass required. Backcountry camping permit required for overnight trips — book online. Sites fill up quickly for popular dates. Stay on marked trails to protect fragile vegetation. Pack out all waste. Leave No Trace.
