From Ottawa, the drive is approximately 2-3 hours heading into the backcountry. GPS: 44.3°N, 79.3°W. Access roads are maintained but can be rough in late fall. The main hunting areas are accessible from the road system.

Designated staging area with space for 10-15 trucks and trailers. Register at the provincial check station within 24 hours of harvest. Lock your vehicle and don't leave valuables visible — these areas are remote.

Primary season: October - December. The rut period (late October to mid-November) is prime time for big game — bucks are active and responsive to calls. Terrain et topographie
The hunting area covers Canadian Shield, boreal forest, Great Lakes shoreline terrain with mixed hardwood and softwood forest providing excellent cover and browse. Elevation ranges from 200-600 metres above sea level. Wetland edges and field borders are key transition zones. Ground is rocky in places — sturdy boots are essential. Deadfall and blowdowns can make off-trail travel challenging.

Draw/lottery tags may be required for certain species — apply early (spring deadline). Hunter orange/blaze orange is mandatory during firearms season.
